What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine doesn’t suppress symptoms, it listens to them as a way of communicating an imbalance, and focuses on you as a whole person. At it’s core, naturopathic care creates the conditions to support the body to heal itself.
Towards this goal, we focus on removing barriers to health — such as processed foods, chronic stress, or unhelpful coping patterns — and building habits that help you heal, including proper nutrition, quality sleep, and meaningful connection.
Functional lab testing may be advised for deeper insight. Treatment can include lifestyle counseling, herbal medicine, homeopathic remedies, detox support, and natural supplements when needed.
Our goal is to address your health concerns and foster a greater sense of connection, meaning, and vibrant health in all seasons of life, regardless of circumstance or outcome.

What to Expect
-
Exploring Values: Identity & Purpose
Our sense of identity and self-worth shapes how we move through life. When tied to shifting cultural ideals, we can lose sight of who we truly are. Scripture offers a steady foundation, reminding us that our worth and purpose come from God’s design for us — not the changing standards of the world.

-
Exploring Habits: Lifestyle Counseling
Our daily habits reveal what we value most. In lifestyle counseling, we look closely at the rhythms that shape your days — how you rest, nourish, move, and relate with others. Together, we explore how these habits can more fully align with your values, inviting a deeper sense of intention into your life.
-
Exploring Patterns: Restoring Balance
After exploring your values and habits, we work to restore balance using a combination of homeopathy, herbal medicine, lifestyle modifications, counseling, and structural support. Each approach is tailored to your unique constitution, to gently balance your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

About Dr. Leah Gusching
After working as a consultant, I decided to change my lifestyle and pursue naturopathic medicine.
As a Christian, my health philosophy is grounded in the belief that the best medicine is the free gift of grace which, once received, restores the alignment of the heart.
I see that true health extends beyond physical, mental, and emotional vitality — that our identity, purpose, and meaning are rooted in God’s design for our lives, eternally. I believe naturopathic medicine honors this design and draws on timeless wisdom to understand who we are, why we suffer, and how we heal.
In my free time, I enjoy walking with my husband and son, reading books on religion or poetry, and swimming in the ocean, when available. I graduated from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois and am grateful I get to walk with others on their healing journeys.

Faith-based care recognizes that true health extends beyond physical, mental, and emotional vitality. It is based on the understanding that our identity, purpose, and meaning stem from God’s design for our lives, eternally.

It is not necessary to have a faith background to benefit from faith-based care. We are grateful to treat anyone who wants naturopathic care — especially those of different faith backgrounds, those who have left their faith, or have none at all.

On Identity
A new friend recently told me that my husband and I remind him of the beginning scenes of Fight Club, when the main character attends various end-of-life support groups to treat his insomnia. I admit, he is observant. Hopefully I won’t start prowling the streets provoking others to fight me. But who knows... Read

On Alcoholics Anonymous
Earlier this summer, at a time when I had recently moved to a new state and was looking for community, I came across a flier for an upcoming meeting series on recovery. One week later I was sitting in the church basement. I had arrived several minutes late, in the middle of introductions, and it was at that point... Read

Fathered by God
A few months ago I came across a book my brother gave to my husband. It was a book about being fathered by God, by that title, with the tagline, “learning what your dad could never teach you.” It outlines the masculine journey, and describes six stages every boy must go through to become a man: beloved son, cowboy...
